Our Story

When Alan Dewling created Genova in 2006, he aimed to draw on his extensive experience in public accounting and portfolio management to deliver two key benefits to clients:

  • A consistent, understandable investment approach that would help them build wealth by buying stakes in successful businesses they would feel proud to own.
  • Thoughtful guidance on financial strategy, grounded not only in tax and technical expertise but in an understanding of clients’ priorities and values.

Guided by these two core commitments, Alan grew Genova alongside his wife Jennifer L. Dewling, previously a leader at some of Canada’s major financial planning and investment firms, as well as longtime collaborators Ming Lam and Kevin Kuebler of Silver Heights Capital Management, a sub-advisor to Genova.

In 2016, Genova opened a new chapter as Alan’s daughter Jennifer A. Dewling joined the firm. In addition to her strong affinity with Genova’s investment approach and client focus, Jennifer brought expertise developed over a decade in increasingly senior roles in the Canadian banking industry.

Today, the Dewling family and a trusted team of colleagues work closely with Genova’s clients — many of whom who have been with the firm since its founding — helping them grow their wealth and achieve their financial goals.
